Transportation is unique in the Philippines very different from your usual cars, buses and trains to say the least. One of the popular forms of transportation is the "tricycle" which is a motor cycle attached to a seating booth to carry passengers.

Another popular form of transportation is the "Jeepney" the bus of the Philippines. A tip for all of you who are interested in riding a Jeepney, if you want to stop at your destination, yell out "Para!" which means "STOP!".

Japan - Kinokawa city

Kinokawa is a small city which is located in Wakayama Prefecture in Japan. The estimated population of Kinokawa is 67,835. The modern city of Kinokawa was established on November 11 in 2005, from the merger of the towns of Kishigawa, Kokawa, Momoyama, Naga and Uchita (all from Naga District).

Kinokawa is a small city with lovely stories. Tama was a female cat, she gained fame for being a station manager and operating officer at Kishi station on the Kishigawa line in Kinokawa

The station master Tama has assistant called Chibi.

The propaganda from Tama's appointment led to an increase in passengers by 17%. Tama became "super station master" in a ceremony attended by the president of the company and the mayor in January in 2008; she was "the only female in a managerial position" in the company. She even had a personal office. Railway officials promoted Tama to the post of "Operating Officer"  in January 2010. Tama maintained the station master's job while taking over the new job, she is the first animal who works like a railway station manager. This small beautiful city welcomes everyone come and feel it's own country landscape.

Australia - Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Uluru which was formerly known as Ayers Rock which lays deep in the centre of Australia located in the Northern Territory. It's one of the most photographed and treasured natural wonders the country has to offer. The iconic natural landmark is about 3.6 km long and 1.9 km wide, in addition Uluru is sacred to Indigenous Australians and believed to be around 600-700 million years old.

(Image taken from here)

Uluru is not just a iconic natural landmark, but it's also a tourist attraction. There are many activities tourist can participate in such as:

   - Watch the sunset over Uluru
   - Visit the Cultural Centre
   - Walk around the Base of Uluru
   - Hire a tour guide to Kantju Gorge
   - Hike to Mutitjulu Waterhole
   - Bird watching
   - Bush hiking

One of the most important things to keep in mind when visiting Uluru is to respect the land and try to not climb up the iconic landmark if you're an inexperience climber, as it is sacred place to the Indigenous Australians, however there's no law that prohibits you.

New Zealand - Wellington

If you really want to explore the vibrant markets, cafes and culture, Wellington or the capital of New Zealand is the best destination to go! Like me, if you have little time to spare, Wellington is one of the best places to go!

Images I took

One aspect I really enjoyed about the North Island are the lookouts and the Mount Victoria Lookout is no exception. Rising 196 metres above Wellington, the lookout provides amazing panoramic views of the capital and the town right across the South Island. This lookout would be perfect for a sunrise or sunset! Unfortunately when I was there the view was a bit gloomy because of the clouds and rainy weather so the photos were a bit darker than usual.

Another attraction I would suggest is to visit the Cuba Night Markets. Located in Cuba St, performers and stallholders gather around every Friday and Saturday nights to showcase the fancy crafts, entertainment and the range of street food Wellington has to offer. You can definitely feel the excitement and the buzzing atmosphere as you wave through the crowd!

United States - Golden Gate Bridge

Image taken from (link)

A true display of modern engineering – The Golden Gate Bridge. This suspension bridge spans 4.8 kilometres, connecting San Francisco and Marin County. The Golden Gate is easily San Francisco’s most recognisable attraction and has been named a wonder of the modern world. The colour of the bridge is orange and is supposed to ‘compliment the surroundings’, and also enhances the visibility of the bridge under conditions of fog, which the Bay Area is accustomed to.

Image I took in 2012.

The bridge is another of America’s prime tourist attractions, and is especially popular with pedestrians and bikes, where walkways on both sides of the bridge accommodate such tourists. Bicycles are especially popular in tourists who visit the bridge, where hire venues lease out bikes for a one-way ride across the bridge to the other side, where a ferry awaits pick-up to return you back to the other side. When I visited San Francisco I was lucky enough to attempt the bike-ride and I would certainly recommend it to anybody visiting the area, as it is definitely one of San Francisco’s strongest points in terms of tourism.

Australia - Sydney Opera House / Sydney Harbour Bridge

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of Australia's most well known iconic landmarks. It's one of the worlds largest steel arch bridges (but not the longest) with a height of 134 metres above the harbour, it's also a vital link in Sydney's transport infrastructure.

(Image taken from here)

There's many ways to experience or get involved in this iconic landmark. For example, the most popular amongst tourists is the Bridge Climb Sydney as well as taking in the scenery from such height, there's nothing quite like seeing it for yourself and memories of this unforgettable experience.
Another way to experience the harbour is to take a 15 minute walk across the bridge itself, taking a walk on the eastern side of the bridge, you're able to view another recognisable iconic landmark Australia has to offer.

Across from the Sydney Harbour Bridge lays another iconic lank mark in Sydney, the Opera House. It's one of the most popular attractions and plays a large part in the culture scene of Sydney. A popular activity among the tourists is getting a tour guide of the building and walking the paths while taking in the scenery.

United States - Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is a massive canyon carved by the Colorado River, approximately 800 metres deep. It is located in northern Arizona, near the borders of Utah and Nevada. This elaborate crevice is around 446 kilometres long, and is said to have been formed over millions of years, as the Colorado River has cut through layer upon layer of rock and earth. The area is inhabited by Native American tribes, who created settlements throughout the canyon and its cave areas.

The weather in the Grand Canyon is insanely varied depending on location along it, according to elevation above sea-level. The rim around the Canyon is able to receive snowfall, as opposed to the inside of the Canyon which resembles the desert locations of Arizona. Winter storms are also a hazardous occurrence for hikers and visitors, but can be avoided if weather is monitored. When I visited the Grand Canyon during August/September 2012 during summer, the area was overcome with a storm and visibility was greatly affected, where you could barely see across the Canyon.

Image taken from (link)

The Grand Canyon attracts about 5 million visitors per year from all over the globe, 17% of which are international visitors. Tourists are able to visit the South Rim of the Canyon all year around, although the Northern Rim is open from May-October. Tourist activities include rafting, hiking, and a helicopter tour that is generally extremely popular. There is a primary vantage point on the Southern Rim called Lipan Point that is accessible for viewing the canyon, and is where I went to view it. The Grand Canyon is certainly something you should see in your lifetime and is one of the world’s most beautiful attractions.
